I had invited friends round

for dinner last night, which I had been really looking forward to. I had planned a delicious feast with a bit of help from Delia, but I was in such a state that I didn’t think I could look at, never mind eat, food. So I bribed the Boy to take to the stove, with promises of cooking every day for the next week as well as doing the washing up. It worked and as I watched him chopping and stirring I began to feel a little less queasy and even managed a couple of peanuts. Felt almost fully restored by the time my friends turned up and bravely sipped a glass of wine. The delicious lasagne that the Boy cooked help stop my gurgling tummy – but I was very ready for bed. Hooray for Detox Monday!

I won’t lie to you,

yesterday couldn’t have been worse if I jumped in a lake of lard. I was poised at lunch to order a hearty salad, but then I had a glass of wine and all those good intentions were washed away as quickly as the bottle we were sharing. I ordered chips. And then the gooiest, chocolatiest, chocolate cake imaginable with an enormous dollop of double cream. It is this greed-ridden revelation that leads me to another: I love cream. There, I have said it. I. Love. Cream! I never buy it though, as I’d be drinking if straight from the carton like the gluttonous creature I am. After the cake, I attempted to drink away the memory of the all those calories, which of course only served to unravel the day even further. At least my body is giving me a good walloping today as punishment.

Oh, I love four day weeks!

Although, as I’m so prone to over indulging on Saturday and Sundays; I’d probably be double my size if three day weekends were the norm. So here we are again at the end of the week and I once again am teetering on the brink of sofa slobbivile: munching on boxes of Mr Kipling cakes and drinking vats of wine. I got off to a good start last night though as I went to the cinema. One G&T before the movie and a small class of white afterwards…not bad! In super organised mode, I had picked up a salad in M&S earlier that day so I wasn’t tempted by the pick ‘n’ mix or greasy Nachos. A virtuous start to the weekend, but eek! Lunch with friends followed by friend’s 30th birthday drinks? Now if that doesn’t sound like a diet disaster…
