Hello Simone, My usually conservative boyfriend has suggested a threesome – with another man. I’m shocked, but intrigued. I’m not completely against it, but what surprises me most is that he doesn’t want a threesome with a woman. Does the fact that he’s suggesting a man mean he’s gay or is he just considering my needs?
A couple of months ago a bloke called me up on a radio show I was hosting about open relationships to tell me about his first threesome. His wife had arranged it. With their postman! Apparently the mail stopped soon after! The point is though, that just like this bloke, wanting a threesome with a man doesn’t make your bloke gay. More likely simply he’s sexually curious. He could have recently had a same-sex fantasy which intrigued him, especially if he was turned on by it. Alternatively, he may want little or no interaction with the third party in your love triangle. His excitement would come as the voyeur. After all, seeing you in bed with another man is taboo and sexually speaking, that’s exciting. Not only that, his ego gets stroked: someone else might have your body – but only he has the whole package. That said, my take on the whole threesome thing –is to eave it where it belongs – in Fantasy Land. I have spoken to countless people who, too lazy to put in the work themselves to boost their flagging sex lives, thought the easiest way to add spice was bringing in a third person. Afterwards the majority of them said the same thing - it was disastrous. Any physical pleasure was superseded by guilt and jealousy. Their trust disappeared quicker than cash in an Icelandic bank. So before you both jump in head first, think realistically about how you can make his suggestion work. For me, there’s just one way. With your imaginations, and no one else.
