This fascinating series of documentaries exposes the truth behind family relationships through DNA testing. It provides the answers, the irrefutable facts of who is, or is not, related to whom. Evidence presented in these documentaries provides the absolute certainty that only science can give. Each programme answers questions over paternity and doubts about siblings - issues that have dominated the lives of all involved.

In each episode we meet people desperate to solve mysteries which have haunted them for years: the son of an American GI soldier who visited Edinburgh during World War Two, who thinks he may have found a sister in the U.S., the mother of three from Blackpool who wants to find out if the man she has always been told is her Dad is truly her biological father, and the 35 year old decorator who thinks he’s discovered a whole other family whom he may be related to.

Often meeting for the first time, Lorraine Kelly brings these disparate individuals together in the hope that they may find out if they really are related. She hears on what basis they think they may be family members, how long their quest for the truth has lasted, and what they hope to achieve if the answer is what they’re hoping. In a hugely emotional moment for everyone involved Lorraine Kelly gives the DNA test results and the truth is revealed.
